Where do I get my medications from?
Most medication that we prescribe will be electronically sent (E-Prescribed) to the patient’s pharmacy of choice. Patients then pay for their medications at that pharmacy when they pick them up. Some medications may be sent directly to the patient’s home from the pharmacy. Prescription medications are provided only when clinically appropriate after evaluation by a licensed provider.
Do you partner with a compounding pharmacy?
Level Wellness and Optimization historically has used the services of compounding pharmacies, including local compounding pharmacies and an out-of-state pharmacy in Texas called Empower Pharmacy, when compounded medications are clinically appropriate. Pharmacy relationships and sourcing can change — please ask the clinic for current details when you call.
Compounded medications are prepared by licensed pharmacies for individual patients when prescribed. They are not FDA-approved in the same way as brand-name or generic drugs, and they are not a substitute for FDA-approved products when those products are available and clinically appropriate.
Are compounded medications FDA-approved?
No. The FDA does not approve compounded versions of drugs in the same way it approves manufactured brand-name or generic products. Compounding pharmacies are licensed and regulated, but compounded formulations do not undergo the same FDA approval process as commercially available FDA-approved drugs.
When an FDA-approved product is available and appropriate for your situation, that option should be discussed with your licensed provider. Individual clinical decisions depend on evaluation, availability, and medical judgment.
